Athletic therapists work with musculoskeletal (muscle, bone, and joint) injuries. Best known for their quick-thinking on-field emergency care of professional and elite athletes we are the first to respond when someone gets hurt. Considered experts at injury assessment and rehabilitation we can help find the source of your discomfort and prescribe exercises to help alleviate your pain.

I help a wide range of patients, including concussions, chronic pain, post surgery rehabilitation, and acute strains & sprains.

Using a combination of manual therapies (ex: soft tissue release, craniosacral therapy, taping), modalities (ex: heat, TENS -Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), and exercise prescription (ex: resistance training, yoga and meditation) we work together to return you to your usual activities. Whether that is playing elite level sports, dancing the night away with friends, sitting at a desk, or simply getting out of bed in the morning pain free I can help.

Initial Assessment

Get ready to chat! I will ask as many questions I can to get to know you and your concerns better. Narrowing down to what exactly is causing your pain and gain clarity on your goals. This is our chance to make sure we are a good fit to work together going forward. I always try to sneak in a bit of treatment as well so you can leave with something to start implementing into your life right away.

Craniosacral - Meditation

The intention behind this appointment is to help bring about balance to your nervous system. It is common after injury, especially brain injury, for your sympathetic nervous system to work overtime. This is our fight or flight response, we might feel “on” or ready and worried about another attack and injury. This system has an important place in our lives (thank you for keeping us alert and safe!) but healing happens when the parasympathetic nervous system has a chance to come out and play. During this 30min appointment your only job is to relax. Using passive therapies like Craniosacral and Reiki I will support you in a short guided meditation before allowing the space for you to enjoy stillness and breath.

 

 

Subsequent Appointment

The frequency and content of these appointments depends on what we find during the initial assessment. Using manual therapies, yoga and meditation we will start to navigate our way back to a fully functional pain free way of life. I believe it is important to create a rehabilitation plan that you feel confident in sticking with even when we aren’t together. How well you do largely depends on how seriously you take your healing!

 

Private Yoga Class

Do you want to integrate a yoga practice into your life but feeling intimidated by a class environment? Or perhaps you are hoping to deepen your practice? This private class allows us to work together intimately, giving you one on one instruction and hands on assists during a class that has been sequenced specific to your needs and goals. Option to add a Craniosacral - Meditation or Athletic Therapy treatment to finish.
