Hi friends,
Thanks for wanting to get to know me a little more :)
First of all I believe that we are all MUCH larger and mysterious than words could ever describe.
We are infinite as the universe!
I am a unique accumulation of experiences and emotions. Continually learning and growing I will most likely have to update this page frequently.
Here is the gist of ME so far;
Always drawn towards movement I attended my first yoga class in 2007 after the baseball team I was playing for dissolved. I was pretty immediately hooked.
In 2010 I completed my first yoga training intensive and started instructing and managing studios as soon as I returned from Montreal.
In the following years I taught thousands of classes all over North America, in groups as large as 250, and am GRATEFUL to have seen bodies of all shapes and sizes moving together so beautifully. I knew I just HAD to learn more.
My quest for knowledge led me to study yoga with Seane Corn in Minneapolis, MN, Ryan Leier in Winnipeg, MB & Saskatoon, SK, Eddie Modestini & Nicki Doane in Maui, and Amanda Kelly in Costa Rica, completing over 1,500 hours of yoga specific training.
Still feeling like I needed to understand how we move even more , I focused in and completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Manitoba and successfully Certified as an Athletic Therapist in 2016. I am in absolute awe of the intricacies of the human body and have continued to learn; attending continuing education workshops about Soft Tissue Release techniques, completing Craniosacral Therapy and trauma informed trainings, and studying energy work like Reiki.
I completed these programs learning intensely about injuries, while never having had any of my own, but in the fall of 2017 that changed. I was struck by a car on my bicycle and gained first hand experience of what concussion symptoms were really like and my textbooks had hardly prepared me.
I found myself on the other side of the treatment table and was completely humbled by my injuries. I had to shift my ideals of recovery into strengthening my resilience and I’ve gained such empathy for those working with chronic pain and brain injuries. The invisibility of my injury left me feeling isolated and unheard even though I HAD the knowledge to explain myself fully!
As I continue my own rehabilitation journey I’ve felt motivated to create a safe space to help others heal as well, especially those in the traumatic brain injury community. While most concussions resolve in 3 weeks or less there are approximately 20% that don’t. I fell into that “don’t” category and if you have too;
I SEE you.
I BELIEVE you.
Your PAIN is REAL and you are NOT alone.
I truly believe that we have the innate ability to heal ourselves
This belief and my LIVE to LEARN curiosity has ultimately been the driving force behind my desire to work with clients. Yoga & Meditation has helped me to connect my MIND, BODY, SPIRIT and allowed me get quiet enough to start listening to my OWN advice. Now I’m happy to share what I’ve learned on to YOU and help you unlock your own inner healer.
I am SO happy following my passion for healing and movement. It’s all led me to where I am now today … about to open the doors on Winnipeg’s newest yoga studio. ROGUE VINYASA YOGA. Co owning and creating with one of my best friends and fellow yoga instructor Matt Coppens … we are so looking forward to watching our yoga community grow in the city of Winnipeg.
Whether you hope to return to high level competitive sport or perhaps try a yoga class for the very first time I can help. My wish for future clients/students is for them to feel EMPOWERED in their decisions. To feel seen and understood. To have access to comprehensive individualized treatment for the MIND & BODY from the EAST & WEST. To join me in the practice of YOGA and to live an inspired and pain free life.
